Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy that considers the body as one unit, where everything is connected and works together. The aim of the Osteopathic Manual Practitioner is to find the cause behind the symptoms, to make sense of the presenting problem within the context of the patient. A presenting symptom isn’t seen as a problem, but as the best solution the body could come up with, given the current demands placed on it. Once the Osteopathic Manual Practitioner can make sense of the mechanics of the patient and understand why the symptoms have started or are failing to get better, the treatment can be specifically targeted to aid the body so that it can begin to self heal and self regulate.
